The caloric demand is the total daily amount of energy that your body needs to function properly. It is calculated taking into account the energy expenditure related to the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), the thermogenesis (i.e. the function of maintaining a constant body temperature) and the Physical Activity Level(PAL).
In other words, the caloric demand determines the energy needed for both the basic life functions (measured at rest, in thermal and mental comfort) as well as all additional bodily activities that we have a significant influence on through our diet and exercise.
If you know your daily caloric demand you can control your body weight.
Are you wondering if you are providing your body with enough calories and nutritional value? What caloric deficit will let you lose unnecessary weight? Or maybe you want to stay in shape or gain muscle mass?
